A green smoothie is simply a smoothie with an added handful of greens. The greens are typically dark green leafy vegetables. These types of greens are packed with nutrition, and have very few calories
If you’ve been searching the internet for foods that are good for acne, healing foods, weight loss foods, etc, you may have stumbled across green smoothies. So what exactly is a green smoothie? A green smoothie is a drink that typically, at a minimum, consists of some fruit, water, and some green leafy vegetables. When blended in a blender, the green leafy vegetables give the drink a green color. With mixtures of certain fruits (berries especially), a green smoothie may end up looking brown. It is still called a ‘green’ smoothie though, because of the greens.
Making green smoothies in advance is a great way to make sure that you are enjoying all the benefits of green smoothies, without the hassle of preparing them once or even several times per day. Green smoothies are best enjoyed fresh, but they can be prepared in advance and kept for up to 2 days.
Tips for Preparing Green Smoothies in Advance
While your green smoothie will taste good for up to 2 days after initially preparing it, I recommend drinking it within 24 hours. I normally drink one blender full of green smoothie per day; half in the morning on the way to work, and half when I get home from work. I do this for several reasons; first, I get a generous amount of smoothie per day, second, I only spend about 8 minutes to prepare and clean up the entire thing, and last, because I do this daily, my afternoon smoothie is very fresh.
It’s your last day of work before you go on vacation. You look at the clock, and it says that only a minute has passed since the last time you looked at it. How can this be? It seems like it was at least 10 minutes since the last time you checked! The clock must be broken. Tick Tock Tick Tock… Finally, it’s time to go! All you could think about all day was leaving behind the stressful rat race, and enjoying your vacation.
But as you are driving home, you start thinking “What are we going to do? Did I pack everything? Will we be able to do all the activities we want to do? How early should we get up each day? What are we going to eat? Do we have enough money for this?”, etc etc. All of a sudden your relaxing time away from the rat race has turned into yet another stressful challenge…
Have you tried every under the sun to flatten your belly, only to see all of your efforts go to waste? If so, don’t get down on yourself. Many others, including myself, have been in the same position. Through my own experience and the experience of others, I have put together a few tips about flat belly exercises that really work. These exercises may be different than what you would expect to get a flat stomach, but I can assure you that if you follow them, your belly will be as flat as you want it to be.
Before I actually delve into the flat belly exercises, I want to issue a word of caution; this is not easy. I don’t care what you’ve seen or read in magazines or online – there is no “easy” way to get six pack abs or a flat stomach. While the actual concept behind the work is simple, doing the work is far from easy. It takes great effort and determination. If you came here looking to lose 10 pounds in 3 days, or turn an XXL belly into a six pack in two weeks with just 20 minutes a day, you are in the wrong place. If you came here with a positive attitude, some motivation, and a willingness to succeed, then you will do just fine 🙂 .
If you’ve been searching the internet for ways to live a healthier lifestyle, there is a chance that you have seen someone mention green smoothies. A regular fruit smoothie is normally made with just fruit. Green Smoothies are pretty much the exact same thing, except there are greens (normally cruciferous greens) blended with the fruit.
Blended Greens? That sounds gross!
Trust me, I had the exact same reaction when I first stumbled upon a green smoothie forum post. The truth is, though, if you use a good recipe and a mild green like spinach, you won’t even taste the greens. This is great, because you will get all the nutritional benefits that come with the greens, without the taste.
Ok, I’m ready to give it a shot. Where do I start?
